The Cobb EMC Foundation has donated to the Cobb & Douglas Health Foundation to support improved birth outcomes and safety for pregnant women and infants residing in Cobb County. The funds are designated for Babies Born Healthy, a program that works to increase the number of uninsured pregnant women receiving early and regular prenatal care, reduce premature delivery, reduce low-birth-weight babies and to provide home safety equipment for families in need. The Cobb & Douglas Health Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Cobb & Douglas Public Health and helps support underfunded public health programs that provide direct services to our residents.
Kevan Espy, CEO of Cobb EMC said, “We have been a long-time partner with Cobb & Douglas Public Health, and we share the common mission of serving Cobb County families. We are very proud to provide funding to support the care for local pregnant women and their families in need through our Cobb EMC Foundation.”
Funds from this donation will go directly to partner OB/GYN providers who offer high quality perinatal care at significantly discounted rates and to provide essential infant care supplies and safety equipment to pregnant women in need in Cobb County. The overarching goal of the program is to improve birth outcomes for both mother and baby.
“We are so very appreciative of Cobb EMC Foundation’s ongoing commitment to the Cobb community. Cobb EMC has continued to support Cobb & Douglas Public Health clients over the years by highlighting our services at their annual meeting, collecting diapers for our low-income babies and supporting our Babies Born Healthy program,” said Lisa Crossman, Executive Director of the Cobb & Douglas Health Foundation.
