In honor of National HIV Testing Day Friday, Cobb and Douglas Public Health will provide free, rapid result HIV testing at the CDPH Marietta Public Health Center at 1650 County Services Parkway in Marietta from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“This is an oral test performed with a swab,” Valerie Crow, a spokesperson for the center said.

According to the Georgia Department of Community Health, Georgia ranked sixth in the nation for cumulative HIV/AIDS cases in 2009, with 65 percent of those cases living in the Metro-Atlanta area.

“Anyone who feels the need to get tested should come out,” Crow said, adding the testing is free, confidential and someone will be available to answer any questions about HIV in a private setting.

The oral test is 99 percent accurate and takes about 20 minutes to receive results, Crow said.

For more information, call 770-514-2815 or 770-514-2432.
