CDPH is the first health department in Georgia to earn 5-year accreditation from the Public Health Accreditation Board.
Cobb & Douglas Public Health (CDPH) announced it has been accredited for five years by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB).
CDPH is the first health department in Georgia to earn this status. There are only 13 health departments in the Southeast currently accredited.
This milestone accomplishment is official recognition that CDPH meets or exceeds the rigorous standards established by the non-profit, non-governmental Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB).
The national accreditation program works to improve and protect the health of the public by advancing the quality and performance of the nation’s state, local, tribal and territorial public health departments.
Accreditation means that CDPH is committed to high standards and continuous quality improvement to meet the community’s needs as effectively as possible.
“PHAB accreditation also demonstrates our accountability and credibility to everyone with whom we work,” the agency said in a statement. “The achievement of national accreditation will help guide our work to better protect, promote and preserve the health of the people in our community.”
In a news release, Dr. Jack Kennedy, District Health Director of Cobb & Douglas Public Health said:
“This extraordinary achievement by our staff and partners demonstrates Cobb & Douglas Public Health’s commitment to our mission of providing the highest quality public health services to the residents of Cobb and Douglas counties. “Our PHAB Site Reviewers were particularly impressed by the involvement and support of our numerous community partners, board members and staff who work together to improve the health of Cobb and Douglas residents.”
