The Cobb & Douglas Public Health on Thursday announced the re-opening of the Women, Infant & Children Supplemental Nutrition program at the South Cobb Public Health Center, 875 Six Flags Drive in Austell. The center will primarily serve the ZIP codes of 30168, 30106, 30122, and 30126.

The Georgia WIC program provides supplemental foods, health care referrals and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five. Enrollees receive nutrition assessment, nutrition education, vouchers for healthy foods, support and education for breastfeeding moms and referral to other health and social services.

Women may qualify for Georgia WIC if they are pregnant, just had a baby, are breastfeeding a baby or have small children under age 5; have a moderately low family income, even if they work; have a documented nutrition-related medical need; and live in Georgia.

All clients are seen by appointment only. For more information, call the CDPH WIC Call Center at (770) 514-2389 or visit www.cobbanddouglaspublichealth.org.
